About
Welcome to Killer Shrimp, a culinary gem nestled at 4211 Admiralty Way in beautiful Marina Del Rey, California. This vibrant restaurant doesn’t just offer a meal; it serves an experience by the waterfront, where patrons can savor delectable seafood while enjoying breathtaking views of the marina.
The menu is a carefully curated delight, particularly known for its signature shrimp soup—a flavorful concoction that invites diners to dip in warm, unlimited bread. With options ranging from spicy paella to a selection of hearty scrambles and omelets at breakfast, there’s something for everyone here. Guests rave about the freshness of the seafood, though occasionally, a dish may miss the mark, as noted by patrons who suggest careful consideration when ordering particular seafood items like mussels.
The atmosphere is lively and infectious, especially on weekends, when live music fills the air. With soul bands and DJs rotating through on Friday nights, this is more than just a restaurant—it transforms into a vibrant nightlife destination. Diners have noted that even the bar experience is just as rewarding; with drink credits that make the experience feel like an all-out celebration.
Customer feedback highlights both the positive and the occasional hiccup in service. While many have praised the attentive and friendly staff, others have pointed out lapses in acknowledgment from management that could impact the overall experience. However, the beautiful location and engaging ambiance often outweigh these challenges, making Killer Shrimp a recommended spot for both special occasions and casual dining.
Whether you're gathering with family, planning a celebration, or just looking for a fantastic meal with unforgettable views, Killer Shrimp promises an experience that will keep you coming back for more.
“ The food was amazing, and the service was awesome. Beautiful view. ”
“ On Friday night this place has a really cool soul band and DJ next door. I would say it was one of the bands I’ve ever experienced. I would actually go back to LA just to go back to killer shrimp on a Friday night to see this band. That’s how good it was. Even between the DJ was phenomenal. We had a bar table which was 100 but the hundred dollars went to 100 in drink credits. You can’t beat it. People there were awesome. It was just a vibe. They brought maybe seven different singers. This was a great night. I would definitely go back and I 100% recommend forthe band, DJ and entertainment. ”
“ Valet parking on the weekends, 9 dollars per car. The paella was spicy and really flavorful! High recommend! The signature of the restaurant is the shrimp soup that you can dip your bread into and the bread is unlimited. The location of the restaurant is good where you can pick either an inside or a patio seating. The servers are attentive and friendly. Most of them are wearing a smile on their faces. The cost is reasonable and I did enjoy my dinner yesterday. There’s Mothers Beach nearby within a five-minute walking distance and there are kayak and stand-up paddle boards to rent as well. Or you can board a cruise to take in the beautiful view near the Mothers Beach and the cruise fare is one dollar per person one way (until September 2, 2024) This restaurant is a great place to hang out with family and friends while enjoying the breathtaking sea view. Will def come back any time soon ”
“ I recently visited this restaurant for a special occasion and, while the location and ambiance were excellent—with stunning views overlooking the marina—the overall experience left something to be desired. It’s a great spot for celebrations, but my experience with the food was unfortunately a bit disappointing. The lobster bisque while decent in flavor, arrived lukewarm. Anyone who enjoys good lobster bisque, knows it needs to be served warm at the very least, and on a cold day, this was especially noticeable. It felt like the dish was almost there but missed the mark. The biggest issue, however, was the mussels. From the first bite, I could tell they weren’t fresh due to an off-putting smell. While I probably should’ve sent them back, it was my cousin’s celebration, and I didn’t want to disrupt the mood. After eating just a few, I had an immediate reaction and needed to excuse myself. When my husband caught a whiff of the dish, he gagged—which confirmed my initial suspicion- they really weren’t fresh. That said, other dishes we tried were quite good and well-prepared, but the mussels really dampened the experience. I would caution anyone about ordering seafood like mussels or oysters here unless they can guarantee the freshness. If you’re considering hosting an event or party, the location is fantastic, and the atmosphere makes it a memorable spot. However, based on my experience, I’m hesitant about returning, at least for the seafood. This is not a reflection of the service we received which was amazing. ”
“ Great food, service, atmosphere, and pretty good waterfront views. The blue cheese mashed potatoes?! ONE caveat that has VEXED me, though - while our waitress was PHENOMENAL and was SO personable, the restaurant manager (blonde, short hair) was the complete opposite. He came around TWICE asking patrons how they're enjoying the food. BUT he skipped over our table BOTH times - walked past it and circled past it TWICE, still asking other customers and deliberately overlooking us. I'm not sure if it was because we were Black or not, but it seemed that way. We didn't feel welcome or included at all by him, which tainted the experience some. That was the only turn-off for a first-time experience, especially being a transplant from the Midwest! ”
“ Long-time customer that moved away 14 years ago. Came back there yesterday and the place was as good as ever. I invited 10 friends of mine to join me and the management accomodated this group beautifully —the service was top-notch— and the shrimp dish that i had Jonesed for all these years did not disappoint..!!! Grateful that some things never change..!! ”
“ We haven't been here in years but the experience was wonderful. Great food but the drink we ordered was less than great. Tasted more like some watered-down juice and not a cocktail. ”
“ Great place right on the waterfront! Killer Yacht Club upstairs is a great place to see live music. ”
